Oh, Baby – I Like it Raw

I-Cue “Two Scoops Of Ice Cream (Dubplate mix)
January 29th, 2009 / 8:35 pm No comments

There not a hiphop-DJ in the world who haven’t got a decent collection records from the New York label AV8. Their party breaks with Crooklyn Clan, Fatman Scoop or any one else they have recorded make every DJ look more than twice as good as he or she actually are. Above is taken from the first AV8 record I got my hands on, more than ten years ago. It’s still one of the best.

Black Gold use Raekwon and Method Man’s “Ice Cream”, Johnny Osbournes “No Ice Cream Sound” and bunch of other classics to great effect.

Ps. For the people in Malmo. If you like it and want the original record: There’s a ex waiting for atat Rundgång that’s been collecting dust for months now.

Photo: Beth Lesser (from her highly recommended book book on Soul Jazz “Dancehall - The Rise of Jamaican Dancehall Culture”)

It seems like this evening could end up in a blast. First: This years first Oh, Baby In Dub at Metro. Then we have both David Rodigan at Inkonst/The Rumble and Wassup Rocker’s Filippa Freijd aka Filip Mode Squad at Backlash/Babel together with Mad Decents Boy 8-Bit among others.

John Coltrane Quartet – Greensleeves
January 23rd, 2009 / 1:49 am No comments

It’s night here in Sweden. Who’s better to spend the night hours with than Coltrane. This is one of his best moments in my book. So beautiful and used to great effect by Swedish jazz combo Koop on their “Waltz For Koop”.
